One side defines the triangle
The side field is the length of each equal triangle side measured in the fold-line model. Triangle height is derived: side × √3 ÷ 2. It is not a second independent input. Prism length is the distance between its triangular ends.
A 40 mm side gives a section height of about 34.64 mm. Three 40 mm wall panels and a 10 mm seam tab make a 130 mm-wide strip. The 120 mm example prism length runs along that strip; it must not be confused with the strip's overall width.
Check the narrow parts of the section
An object that fits within the triangle's bounding rectangle may still strike a sloping side. Draw the triangular section at the intended scale and place the object's section over it. Leave room for the end closures and the actual material bend.
The two triangular ends and their joining tabs need to be distinguished from the three walls. Trace the face connections in the preview before cutting.
Close a square-ended tube
Score the panel band, bring its seam together and check that the section is an equal-sided triangle. Fold the end tabs in the indicated order and lower an end face onto them. Let the first end settle before closing the second. This is a paper model, with no certified load, shipping or food-contact rating.
