Methodology

How the templates are made

The templates are original geometric constructions with explicit assumptions about dimensions, stock and page layout.

Geometry starts from panels and connections

Each structure is built from its own faces, creases, tabs and outer paths. A tray has a base and four raised walls; a tuck box has a four-wall strip with end closures; the polygonal prisms have regular sections with three or six side faces. Pillow closures use symmetric curves, and an envelope uses a flat body with overlapping flaps.

The preview and exports come from that model. They are not traced from the generated design-prototype images or copied from a competitor's downloadable template. Templatemaker was considered only as a reference for general tool usability during planning.

Dimensions have a stated reference

Fold-line spans, inside targets and external footprints answer different questions. Tray and prism measurements are fold-line dimensions. The tuck, two-piece and sleeve calculations use a simplified neutral-plane estimate where described; pillow parameters remain flat-panel controls.

The two-piece example adds two sheet thicknesses to the base inside target to estimate its outside, then adds twice the per-side clearance for the lid opening. This makes the assumption inspectable rather than presenting an unexplained fit percentage.

Digital checks have a limited scope

A deterministic model can check finite coordinates, connected faces, valid crease relationships and outer paths that do not cross themselves. Parameter constraints reject unsupported ratios and tab relationships before export. These checks help identify invalid geometry, but they do not reproduce every material interaction.

Real paper has grain, coatings, bend radius and scoring compression. Adhesive creates extra layers. A physical trial with the intended stock remains necessary to judge practical fit and assembly.

Physical units and tiled pages

Internal dimensions are expressed in millimetres. One inch is 25.4 mm, and the default PDF user unit is one point, or one seventy-second of an inch. SVG exports declare physical width and height in addition to their coordinate viewBox.

PDF tiling subtracts margins and reserved header/footer space, repeats a stated artwork overlap and adds registration marks and a separate 100 mm ruler. Existing tiled pages print one per sheet at 100%, without a second Poster operation.

Format rules and print guidance are linked below. Original prose explains the selected product model; external paper references do not certify FoldParcel's dimensions. Locally distributed Manrope and Instrument Serif font files retain their Open Font License notices and recorded source hashes.

No generated illustration is presented as a photographed fabrication test. Do not use a screenshot as a production dieline: use the actual output and independently inspect scale, boundaries and fit for your purpose.
